A rigid door stop is the simplest form of wall protection for a swinging door: a fixed metal post with a cushioned tip that stops the door leaf before the knob or lever reaches the finished wall. Unlike a spring stop, the post does not flex, so the door comes to a defined stop at the same point every time and the stop itself absorbs the contact.

This one carries a gold, brass-tone finish, which suits brass or polished-gold lever sets, hinges and escutcheons in residential interiors. It mounts with a screw into the baseboard or wall, and the standard practice is to land the fastener in solid framing or to use a wall anchor where the mounting point falls on hollow drywall.

Rigid stops are a common turnover and punch-list item. They wear out, get kicked loose, or go missing between tenants, and replacing one is usually a five-minute job with a screwdriver.

Key Features

• Rigid, non-flexing post that halts the door at a fixed point rather than deflecting like a spring stop
• Gold / brass-tone finish to match brass door hardware and hinges
• Cushioned tip at the end of the post absorbs contact with the door face and reduces marking
• Single-fastener installation into baseboard or wall, with the screw supplied on hardware of this type
• Keeps knobs, levers and lock trim from striking and puncturing drywall or plaster
• Surface-mounted, so it can be added to an existing opening without altering the door or frame
• Sold individually by the piece

Applications

• Interior passage and bedroom doors in houses and apartments
• Bathroom doors where the lever would otherwise contact tile or drywall
• Closet and utility doors that swing hard against a finished wall
• Office and light commercial partitions with hollow-core doors
• Replacing broken, bent or missing stops during unit turnover and punch-list work
• Protecting baseboard and corner beads at doors that open against a return wall
