A vinyl stair tread is a molded covering installed over the walking surface of an existing or new stair tread, giving the step a finished wearing surface and a defined nosing edge. The round-nose profile wraps the leading edge of the step, covering the exposed nose and providing a consistent radius from one riser to the next.

Vinyl treads are used where a hard, cleanable, slip-resistant surface is wanted without carpet or hardwood. The material is homogeneous through its thickness, so surface wear does not expose a different-colored substrate, and the tread is normally set in stair-tread adhesive over a clean, sound, level substrate such as plywood, concrete, or metal pan stairs.

This tread is supplied in a brown (bark) color for use in service stairs, rental and multi-family stairwells, and other traffic areas where appearance is secondary to durability.

Key Features

• Molded vinyl tread with a round-nose leading edge that covers the existing stair nosing
• Homogeneous vinyl wearing surface resists scuffing and does not delaminate from a backing layer
• Brown (bark) color hides dirt and scuffing in high-traffic stairwells
• Textured or embossed walking surface for footing on stairs
• Installs in stair-tread adhesive over plywood, concrete, or metal pan stairs
• Can be cut to width on site with a utility knife or shears for narrower stair runs
• Cleans with routine damp mopping, no refinishing or sealing required
• Sold individually, so tread counts can be matched to the actual stair run

Applications

• Interior service and egress stairs in commercial buildings
• Multi-family and rental building stairwells
• Basement and utility stairs over plywood or concrete
• Covering worn or damaged wood stair treads during renovation
• Metal pan stairs being fitted out with a finished walking surface
• School, institutional, and warehouse stair traffic areas
