A solid core interior door slab with a flat, flush face and a factory primer coat. The medium-density fiberboard skins are smooth, seamless and free of grain, which makes them one of the easier surfaces to finish - the primer only needs light sanding before the first coat of paint.

Solid core construction gives the slab noticeably more mass than a hollow core door, so it feels more substantial in the hand, swings with less rattle and does more to slow sound between rooms. The trade-off is weight: hinges should be laid out and fastened accordingly, and heavier slabs are generally hung on three or more hinges.

The slab ships unmachined, with no bore for a lockset and no hinge mortises, so it can be fitted to an existing jamb or prepped as part of a new opening. Trimming, beveling the lock edge and boring are all done on site.
