Solid oak stair tread stock, milled from hardwood and supplied unfinished so it can be cut to the width of the stairwell and sanded, stained or clear-coated on site. Oak is the traditional choice for treads because its density and closed grain hold up under foot traffic and take stain evenly.

Treads are the horizontal walking surface of a stair, set on the stringers and paired with risers behind them. The long length lets a single piece be cross-cut for two or more steps on a standard-width run, or trimmed square and notched where the tread meets a skirt board, wall or newel post.

Because the piece is sold unfinished, it can be matched to existing oak flooring or handrail work. Edge profiling, nosing returns and finish are done by the installer.
