Solid pine step stock milled for use as stair treads. The 5/4 nominal thickness is the traditional dimension for residential tread material, giving enough depth to span between stringers without flexing underfoot while keeping the riser-to-tread relationship shallow enough to work with standard framing.

Pine is a softwood that machines cleanly, takes nails and screws without splitting when fastened near the ends, and accepts stain, paint or clear finish. It is typically used where the finished stair will be painted or carpeted, or where a run is site-built and the installer wants to cut, nose and sand the tread on the job.

Supplied in long lengths so treads can be cross-cut to the actual stair width and the waste used for winders, landings or spacer blocking.
