5/4 in. x 12 in. x 9 ft. Oak Stair Tread
Solid red oak stair tread stock milled for use as the horizontal walking surface of a staircase. The 5/4 nominal thickness gives the finished tread the depth expected in residential stair construction, and the extra length allows a single piece to be cut down for standard runs or trimmed to fit a wider stair with returns.
Oak is the traditional hardwood for stair treads because of its density, closed grain and resistance to denting under foot traffic. It takes stain evenly and accepts polyurethane and other clear finishes well, so treads can be matched to existing oak flooring or handrail parts. Treads are normally sanded, finished and installed after the rough carriage and risers are set.
Supplied unfinished so the tread can be cut to length, nosed or edged as the job requires, and finished on site.
