Iron balusters are the vertical infill members that run between a stair's treads or shoe rail and the handrail, filling the space in a balustrade and carrying the guard's infill loads back into the rail and stringer. This one is a plain round bar pattern with a matte black finish, sized to suit typical stair and balcony rail heights.

Round iron balusters are normally installed by drilling the tread or shoe rail and the underside of the handrail, dropping the baluster into the lower hole and setting it into the upper, then securing it with epoxy or a set screw and covering the lower hole with a shoe collar or plug. Because the stock is solid-feeling round bar rather than turned wood, it can be trimmed to length on site with an abrasive cut-off wheel and touched up with matching black paint.

The black finish pairs with stained oak, maple or poplar rail components as well as with painted newels and shoe rails, and mixes readily with decorative twist, basket and scroll balusters from the same round-bar family.
