Gator Clean XP Oil and Grease Remover is a poultice-style stain remover made by Alliance Designer Products for hardscape surfaces. It is applied as a liquid directly over the stain, left to dry, and then swept away once it has turned to powder.

The chemistry works by drawing oil out of the pore structure of the masonry rather than pushing it deeper the way pressure washing can. As the carrier evaporates, the absorbent residue holds the lifted oil and is removed with a broom, which is why the manufacturer describes the method as shake it, spread it, sweep it.

It is formulated for concrete pavers, wet cast products and natural stone, and targets motor oil, cooking oil and grease. It is not for asphalt, is not recommended for synthetic oil stains, and can damage existing sealer, so a test in a hidden area is called for on sealed work.

Key Features

• Lifts and absorbs embedded oil stains as the product dries from a liquid into a powder
• Biodegradable and phosphate-free formulation
• No scrubbing and no rinsing required under normal use; the dried powder is swept up
• Intended for concrete pavers, wet cast products and natural stone; not for use on asphalt and not recommended for synthetic oil stains
• Applied above 40 degrees F on a dry surface, with maximum ventilation during use
• Coverage of approximately 6 square feet, spread roughly 1/8 in. thick and extending about 1 in. past the edge of the stain
• Dries to powder in 12 to 24 hours depending on temperature, humidity and ventilation; stubborn stains can be treated a second time
• Poultice-type action pulls oil up out of porous masonry instead of driving it further into the substrate as washing can

Applications

• Motor oil and transmission drips on paver driveways and parking aprons
• Cooking oil and grease spatter around outdoor kitchens and grill stations
• Spot treatment of stains on natural stone patios, walkways and pool decks
• Wet cast slabs, steps and coping that have picked up oily stains
• Stain removal on unsealed hardscape before a sealer is applied
• Maintenance of commercial entrances, courtyards and plaza paving
