Black Jack Wet/Dry Surface Roof Cement is an asphalt-based plastic roof cement supplied in a cartridge for gun application. It is the patching compound reached for when a roof leak has to be closed on a surface that is damp, wet or still draining, rather than one that has been given time to dry out.

Plastic roof cement of this type is a heavy-bodied asphalt mastic carrying mineral fillers and fibre. It is gunned into the defect and tooled with a putty knife, where it bonds to asphalt shingles, roll roofing, built-up membrane, metal flashing and masonry and remains pliable instead of curing hard, so seasonal movement in the deck and flashing does not crack the repair. The black colour blends with asphalt shingle and modified bitumen work.

The cartridge size suits point repairs and detail work \u2014 resealing a lifted shingle tab, running a bead at a counterflashing lap, closing a pinhole at a vent boot \u2014 where opening a pail of trowel-grade cement is more material than the job needs.
