A concrete masonry brick, cast from sand, cement and aggregate rather than fired clay. Cement brick is used the same way as common brick — laid in running bond with mortar to build veneer, backup, partition and infill work — and its consistent moulded dimensions make it straightforward to keep courses level and joints uniform.

Because it is a cement-based unit, it cuts cleanly with a masonry blade or brick hammer and bonds well with standard Type N or Type S mortar. Units are typically supplied in a natural grey finish that takes paint, stucco or a parge coat where the wall is not meant to be left exposed.
