GE Silicone 1 Window & Door is a 100% silicone sealant formulated for sealing the perimeter joints where window and door assemblies meet the surrounding construction. Unlike acrylic latex or siliconized acrylic caulks, a 100% silicone formulation cures to a genuine rubber, so the bead stays flexible through seasonal expansion and contraction instead of hardening and splitting along the joint edges.

Silicone sealants are moisture-cure products: the bead skins over and then cures from the outside in as it reacts with humidity in the air, releasing the characteristic acetic odor while it sets. Once cured, the material is waterproof and unaffected by rain, snow and sunlight, which is why it is the usual choice for exterior frame joints, sill joints and glazing details that take weather directly.

The white color suits painted trim, vinyl and aluminum frames, and white cladding. Because cured silicone will not accept paint, the bead is tooled as the finished surface and the color is chosen to match the adjacent work rather than being coated afterward.
