Oak 7021 Quarter Turn Cap, 90 Degree
The 7021 quarter turn with cap is a stair fitting used in over-the-post (continuous) handrail systems, where the handrail turns ninety degrees and passes over a newel post rather than terminating into it. The integral cap sits on top of the newel and carries the rail through the turn, so the handrail reads as one unbroken member around a landing or a change of direction.
Milled from oak to match standard oak handrail profiles, the fitting is supplied unfinished so it can be sanded, stained and topcoated with the rail and treads. Fittings of this type are joined to straight rail with rail bolts and dowel screws, then blocked or plugged, leaving a tight glue joint that can be sanded flush before finishing.
