A flip down door holder, also called a kick down holder, is a surface-mounted device that keeps a swinging door propped open without a separate floor or wall stop. The body screws to the face of the door near the bottom rail, and a pivoting arm drops to the floor when nudged with a foot, where friction between the arm tip and the floor resists the door closing.

A spring keeps the arm folded up and out of the way when the holder is not in use, so the door swings freely and the arm does not drag on flooring or catch on a threshold. Releasing the door is the same one-foot motion in reverse, which makes it useful on doors that are held open and closed repeatedly through the day.

This unit is built on a die-cast zinc body with a dull aluminum finish, a common pairing for hold-open hardware because the cast body takes repeated kicking and the plated finish blends with aluminum storefront and residential entry trim.
